PREVENTING. SEXUAL EXPLOITATION STARTS WITH TAKING ACTION BEFORE IT HAPPENS.

La Sortie raises awareness among young people, equips the communities and support networks around them, and helps professionals recognize the signs of sexual exploitation.

Through our programs, presentations, and partnerships, we help people better understand the risks, prevent sexual exploitation, and access the support and resources they need.

Sexual Exploitation Prevention for Youth

Through our BienVeillance program, we engage young people aged 12 to 18 in discussions about consent, healthy relationships, recruitment tactics, and the risks of sexual exploitation, particularly online.

Our activities are designed for both girls and boys, with an approach tailored to their experiences and realities.

Raising awareness among boys and young men

Preventing sexual exploitation also means addressing the behaviours and attitudes that allow it to happen.

We encourage boys to reflect on consent, power dynamics, peer pressure, and the normalization of sexual exploitation, without blame or judgment.

Educating and raising awareness through our presentations

Our presentations explore the realities of sexual exploitation, patterns of manipulation and coercive control, and ways to recognize and respond to situations of exploitation.

They are designed for young people, community organizations, and professionals who want to better understand sexual exploitation and take meaningful action to prevent it.

Strengthening prevention across communities

Through our BienAccordé program, La Sortie participates in community roundtables and works alongside organizations, schools, and partners to strengthen early identification, improve referrals, and promote coordinated support and intervention.

Our presentations and awareness-raising activities

Understanding sexual exploitation, recognizing the warning signs, and knowing how to respond are essential to effective prevention.

La Sortie’s presentations address these issues by combining the expertise of our frontline workers with the lived experiences of survivors.

Our activities are designed for young people, community organizations, and professional groups seeking to deepen their understanding of sexual exploitation and contribute to its prevention.

Together, they encourage young people to reflect on their choices, recognize warning signs, and better understand the realities of sexual exploitation.

Prevention also means engaging boys

Preventing sexual exploitation is not only about teaching girls to recognize dangerous situations. It also means engaging boys in conversations about the behaviours, attitudes, and consequences that can contribute to sexual exploitation.

This approach is central to our On change la game presentation, which addresses both the risks girls may face and the realities boys may encounter.

By reaching both audiences, La Sortie aims to intervene early, encourage informed choices, and help prevent sexual exploitation before it occurs.
