“ON CHANGE LA GAME”
SEXUAL EXPLOITATION PREVENTION AND AWARENESS WORKSHOP

La Sortie is pleased to present “On change la game”, a unique awareness and prevention workshop designed to help young people recognize the risks of sexual exploitation, understand the consequences of involvement in criminal activity, and make informed decisions about their future.

Developed by Marie-Ève Cool, a community outreach worker and certified peer support worker at La Sortie, and Frédéric Ezri, a youth intervention worker at the Cité-des-Prairies youth detention centre in Montréal, this conference combines professional expertise and lived experience to engage young audiences in meaningful conversations about prevention and personal choices.

Marie-Ève helps young women identify the warning signs of sexual exploitation, recognize the tactics used to draw them into prostitution, and develop strategies to protect themselves. Frédéric addresses the consequences of criminal involvement among young men, particularly the impact that such choices can have on their future and personal freedom.

Marie-Ève is a courageous and resilient young woman who has overcome sexual exploitation. Today, she draws on her lived experience to support others as a peer support worker at La Sortie.

Known for her curiosity, remarkable insight, and strength of character, Marie-Ève has a natural ability to build trust with the women she supports. She communicates her perspectives with clarity and conviction while remaining open to reflection and different viewpoints.

Recognizing the opportunities and support that have helped shape her own journey, Marie-Ève is deeply committed to helping women who may not have had access to the same resources. Through her work, she strives to empower others and contribute meaningfully to the fight against sexual exploitation.

Frédéric is a youth intervention worker with 16 years of experience supporting young people involved in the justice system at the Cité-des-Prairies youth detention centre in Montréal.

Deeply committed to their rehabilitation and personal development, he aims to raise awareness among younger generations about the realities and consequences of involvement in the youth criminal justice system.

Drawing on his extensive professional and personal experience, Frédéric has a natural ability to connect with young people, establish relationships built on trust, and develop strong therapeutic alliances throughout their time at the centre.

After many years of frontline experience, he is also eager to take on new challenges, including mentoring the next generation of youth intervention workers and equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

About Us

La Sortie is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting women who have experienced sexual exploitation. Through comprehensive, individualized support and access to safe housing, the organization helps women explore alternatives to the sex industry and rebuild their lives with dignity, safety, and autonomy.

La Sortie’s mission focuses on three key areas:

  1. Intervention: Providing individualized support and assistance to women who have experienced sexual exploitation.
  2. Prevention: Helping individuals who may be at risk of sexual exploitation recognize potential dangers and make informed choices.
  3. Awareness: Educating the public about the realities of sexual exploitation and the importance of prevention and support.

We support women who wish to leave the sex industry by helping them rebuild their emotional and financial stability, develop essential life skills, and regain control over their lives.

Our approach is rooted in collaboration. We work closely with community partners and frontline professionals, including law enforcement, street outreach workers, local community service centres (CLSCs), and other organizations, to ensure women have access to the resources and support they need.
